In December 2018, the first IMAX movie theater was launched in Greece. The new IMAX theater is hosted by Cineplexx Cinemas at the One Salonica Outlet Mall on the west entrance of the city of Thessaloniki. The new IMAX movie theater occupies an area of 480 sqm. The work involved redesigning an existing movie theater according to the strict standards and specifications required by the IMAX theaters. IMAX theaters are radically different from conventional movie theaters. It’s a unique combination of technological and architectural innovations that delivers a perfect effect to the viewer – who enjoys the film to the maximum, forgetting that it’s in a movie theater. This allows everyone to have a perfect view, no matter where they sit. The material itself is also different, more reflective and brighter. The IMAX theaters are designed to fit the viewer into the action and evolution of the film.
