Future Library

The construction of nine Media Labs within existing municipal libraries, funded by the distinguished initiative of «Stavros Niarchos» Foundation named «Future Libraries», was completed in December 2013. The project included the municpal libraries of Ilioupoli, Keratsini, Korinthos, Livadia, Nafpaktos, Trikala, Kozani, Drama and Chania. The premises of all nine Media Labs aimed at substantially upgrading the services offered within the municipal libraries, by promoting the adoption of new technologies and hosting creativity programs. The architectural design of «Future Libraries» belongs to the reputable office A&M Architects, whose concept prevailed in the architectural competition organized by «Stavros Niarchos» Foundation. Construction works included the complete remodeling of the space dedicated to each Media Lab, by introducing a new layout coupled with new electromechanical installations, wall coverings, furniture, lighting and miscellaneous equipment.
